What is SIP?

SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) is a communications protocol used for initiating, maintaining, modifying, and terminating real-time sessions that involve video, voice, messaging, and other communications applications and services between two or more endpoints on IP networks.

SIP is often used in Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and other types of communication systems to establish, maintain, and terminate voice and video calls, as well as to send and receive instant messages and other forms of multimedia content. It is a text-based protocol that uses simple message formats and is designed to be extensible and easy to implement.

SIP is used in many different types of communication systems, including enterprise VoIP systems, internet telephony, and multimedia conferencing. It is also used in many other applications, such as IPTV, gaming, and social networking.

What is Sip Trunking

SIP trunking is a technology that enables the use of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) to connect a business’s private branch exchange (PBX) system to the public switched telephone network (PSTN). It allows businesses to make and receive phone calls using their existing PBX system and internet connection, rather than traditional analog phone lines.

SIP trunking can provide significant cost savings for businesses, as it allows them to use their existing PBX infrastructure and eliminates the need for separate phone lines for each phone in the office. It also allows for greater flexibility in terms of phone number management and call routing, as calls can be easily routed to different locations or devices based on the availability of the intended recipient.

In addition to voice calls, SIP trunking can also support other types of communication, such as video conferencing, instant messaging, and faxing. It is a popular choice for businesses of all sizes, as it provides a cost-effective and flexible solution for communication needs.
